Its spring, so you know what that means? Spring cleaning time; out with the old, and in with the new. In a rather extreme move for my household/family though, this meant out with the old car and in with a new one.

Yesterday, we officially said bye to our trusty, now-faded red Toyota Camry (Aptly named URPness due to its registration plates). I remember the day my dad brought that shiny, red car home. I was 10. I’m now 24.

I’m a strangely sentimental person and I attach memories to inanimate objects, so you can imagine how many memories are attached to something that has been in my life for more than half of my existence.

That car was (and is) such a big part of my growing up. From getting picked up and dropped off to primary school/friends houses/parties, to learning how to drive with it, to minor and major accidents, to getting my provisional license and driving it to school, the various interstate road trips to Melbourne and Brisbane, housing some of the most memorable conversations with people until the sun rose, and simply getting me from A to B on a daily basis.

At 477,000+ km on the odometer, that red Camry served us well. Very well.
It has gone to a new home and I hope it serves them well too.

I will miss it though, but like so many other things that have entered and exited my life, you do move on. I’m just thankful that those memories are forever.

On the other hand, however, I am now the proud owner of a brand new Toyota Rukus. I couldn’t have picked a more perfect car to take the Camry’s place, and I can’t wait to create new memories with it.

So get on the spring clean bandwagon, because you never know what could be added to your life until you let go of the old things. Make room for new blessings! :)
